Regions
The Portneuf region is full of magnificent places to practise winter sports. The Parc naturel régional de Portneuf offers numerous trails for hiking and snowshoeing. The Vallée Bras-du-Nord is another must-see outdoor destination, offering 80 kilometers of hiking and snowshoeing trails, characterized by frozen waterfalls and an impressive forest. There is also the Ski-Neuf centre, which offers pleasant circuits including 20 km of easy and intermediate cross-country ski trails, 9 km of hiking trails and 5 km of snowshoe trails. And finally, the Saint-Leonard cross-country skiing centre is a network of 5 trails totaling 25 km in the middle of the charming and exceptionally beautiful village of Saint-Leonard.
The Parc naturel régional de Portneuf offers two climbing walls, one at Long Lake and the ice wall in the Secteur des Gorges, which are federated by the Fédération Québécoise de la Montagne et de l'Escalade. Have you heard of the Magic Spot? As you can tell from the name: this place is magic! Located at the heart of the Vallée Bras-du-Nord, this site will challenge you no matter what your level is. This small ice climbing site is one of the first sites to form at the beginning of the season.
Portneuf in winter is also a choice destination for fatbike enthusiasts. Go riding on the trails that wind through the region. You can practise this sport on the trails of the Vallée Bras-du-Nord, on the Sentiers récréatifs Portneuf and at the Centre nature Saint-Basile where there are 15 kilometers of trails to ride with family and friends!
The municipality of Deschambault-Grondines is a true gourmet destination and stands out for the diversity of its agri-food producers and processors. A must-see in the region, the Fromagerie des Grondines, offers a dozen organic raw milk cheeses from cows, sheep and goats, as well as self-guided or guided tours (by reservation). Are you passionate about beekeeping? Miel & Co is the place for you! This beekeeping farm located in Portneuf offers a variety of products from the hive. Feel like a good refreshing beer? Take a break in one of the microbreweries of the region: La Fosse, La Shed, Les Grands Bois or Le Roquemont. Stop by L'Esprit de clocher to buy beers to go or discover the Ubald distillery which offers a seed-to-harvest experience and a look into the production of local spirits!
Whether it's in a cottage, a ready-to-camp unit or a hotel, the Portneuf region is full of warm and comforting places to escape for a weekend or for a longer stay. Disconnect from everyday life with a stay in the forest in the typically Canadian and luxurious cottages of Au Chalet en Bois Rond, where you can also go snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, hiking and snowshoeing. In Saint-Raymond, choose the comfort of the micro-cabins or the rustic and chic rooms of Hotel Roquemont. If you want to be close to nature and close to many activities, go for the cottages of Chalets Tourisma. And for an atypical stay in an enchanting setting, choose a yurt in the heart of the Vallée Bras-du-Nord, in a ready-to-camp facility in the Parc naturel régional de Portneuf or at Camp Portneuf, which will provide you with special access to nature around the magnificent Sept-Îles Lake.
